Bob's is committed to serving traditional Maine fried seafood with straightforward simplicity. Our mission is to wow our guests with consistently great food and fast, friendly service in a casual and fun Maine setting.
Established in 1956 on busy Route One long before that stretch became bustling and busy with Kittery's outlet shops, Bob’s was the locals' golden fried standard. Now Bob's is a favorite spot for locals and travelers alike. We hear it from our guests: no trip to Maine is complete without a meal at Bob's Clam Hut.
Bob's is committed to serving traditional Maine fried seafood with straightforward simplicity. Our clams are always fresh, which means daily deliveries--we're too small to store more than that anyway. We use "specials," which are clams hand-selected for consistent size and quality. We follow the original Bob's recipes, including the famous tartar sauce. Customer favorites include Bob's New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Stew, the traditional Bob's fried clams, and the Lillian fried clams. The volume of fryolator oil we go through amazes our suppliers--our oil cleanliness standards are second to none. Our staff uses the same cook-to-order system that Bob and his family developed way back when the Clam Hut first opened.
One of our many mottos at Bob’s is “stay the same and change.” Two of the changes we’ve made while still staying the same are:
Commitment to environment—we are fully solar powered! (we have an offsite solar farm in addition to our roof top panels) and we use compostable paper and plastic alternatives.
We have a second location! After 62 years, in 2018 we welcome Bob’s number two on the corner of Cumberland and Washington streets in Maine’s biggest city, Portland!
Bob’s has been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, was named a “Great American Lobster Destination” by USA Today and took a spot on Thrillist’s list of “50 Essential Restaurants Every American Should Visit.” Coastal Living has also recognized the lobster roll at Bob’s as one of the best in the state and Yankee magazine spotlighted the clam hut as having one of “The 10 Best Fried Clams in Maine.”
We think of Bob's as a "Corny Little (gourmet) Clam Hut by the Side of the Road," where we are fanatical about quality seafood, and have been for a very long time. Come visit us soon!

We are happy to introduce Bob’s customers to the bold, exciting flavors of Kennebunkport favorite, Rococo Ice Cream.
Based on the rich style of Argentinean ice cream, each flavor is handcrafted in small batches using local ingredients. Unique flavors such as Goat Cheese Blackberry Chambord and Maine Whoopie Pie are just a few of the reasons Rococo was named one of the Top 10 Ice Cream Parlors by Trip Advisor in 2014.
For the old school purist we still have Maine Soft Serve in chocolate, vanilla or twist.
